Marco Island Vacation (Wednesday Update)

On Wednesday we headed over to Cedar Bay Marina where we rented a deck boat to do some backwater cruising along the Marco River and the backwaters of the Gulf of Mexico. I got a quick lesson on how to drive the boat and a big laminated map and off we went. We ended up anchoring at a small island named Keewaydin Island. In fact, we had the whole island to ourselves and we swam in the calm inner waters and went shelling on the Gulf waters. Again, Tyler filled another whole bag of hand picked shells. We saw more dolphins swimming during our boat ride, but still no manatees.

From there we headed back home for the boys to take their naps, which Tyler skipped. When Max woke up we headed back over to The Esplanade to eat on the water at a restaurant called Guy Harvey's Island Grill. Lisa and I had chicken sandwiches and Tyler had some chicken fingers. Max ate his usual crackers and had some of Ty's chicken as well. We finished off our visit to The Esplanade with another round of Cold Stone Creamery ice cream. Tyler dropped his whole cup on the ground and decided he was finished after we tried to revive it. On our way back to the car we saw a lime green Ford antique in the parking garage. I'm not sure when it was from or what type of Ford it was, but it said "Custom" on the side and it looked like it was from the 40's or 50's.

We wrapped up the night by watching American Idol. David Cook, our favorite, ended up taking home the bacon. I'm sure I'll get some e-mails from a few folks out there congratulating me on my victory. I've heard from numerous people that I resemble him in some way. We were both glad that he beat David Archuletta because we'd be more likely to see David Cook in concert than David Archuletta.
